Joint Flex contains a revolutionary combination of powerful ingredients proven to reduce inflammation and help rebuild cartilage while supporting your joints by preventing osteoarthritis.
Glucosamine and chondroitin are both naturally occurring in our bodies and provide the structural integrity required in joint cartilage. Both ingredients are well studied and used to reduce pain and improve function in those with joint pain. Joints are cushioned by the fluid, and Glucosamine is used by the body support joint fluid production and help rebuild tendons, ligaments, cartilage.
Taking glucosamine supplements can increase the cartilage and fluid surrounding joints while helping to prevent deterioration of these substances. Similar to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucosamine sulfate has been shown to have unique anti-inflammatory effects.
When taken orally, glucosamine sulfate is absorbed readily into the system and can be traced to cartilage as soon as four hours after consumption.
Chondroitin sulfate is a larger molecule also naturally found in cartilage and provides resistance against compression forces. Studies show Chondroitin seems to reduce pain though its anti-inflammatory benefits thereby reducing pain while slowing cartilage breakdown associated with osteoarthritis and even stimulate cartilage growth.
MSM, or MethylSulfonylMethane, is a compound used for arthritis relief through Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. MSM helps to reduce joint pain and stiffness. MSM can also help prevent the breakdown of cartilage, slowing the progression of joint difficulties and may even play a role in reversing joint damage.
Subjects supplementing with glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM have been able to reduce their use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and although these natural supplements take longer to provide relief than NSAIDs, their beneficial effects have been shown to last longer.
Curcumin is a naturally occurring substance, found in the spice turmeric, that has anti-inflammatory effects and has been proven in the treatment of Osteoarthritis.
When compared to Diclofenac type NSAID’s people reported similar pain relief with fewer stomach side effects with curcumin.
Boswellia, or Indian frankincense, is a resin from a tree that has been used as an anti-inflammatory in the treatment of osteoarthritis.
Quercetin is a plant pigment (flavonoid). It is found in many plants and foods, such as red wine, onions, green tea, apples, berries, Ginkgo biloba, St. John’s wort, American elder, and others. Buckwheat tea has a large amount of quercetin. Some people use quercetin as a medicine.
Studies suggest that glucosamine sulfate may increase insulin resistance. For this reason, diabetic patients should use glucosamine sulfate with caution and only under medical supervision.
Patients on blood thinners (anticoagulants) should use chondroitin sulfate only after discussing and receiving approval from their physician.
Quercetin acts as an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory which can help in the management of arthritis, but does have some side effects:
- May cause headache or tingling in arms and legs.
- Kidney damage may result from high doses.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take quercetin as a supplement. You may get too much, especially since quercetin is in so many foods.
- Drug interactions. Be careful if you are taking drugs such as antibiotics, cyclosporine, warfarin, or drugs that are changed by the liver. Quercetin may change how these drugs work and raise the risk of side effects.
However, there don’t appear to be interactions between quercetin and foods or other herbs and supplements.
As such, it is best to consult your primary care provider or physician before taking this supplement.
